How Do You Clean A Coleman Camping Stove

You would think that cleaning a camping stove would be simple. But if there is one thing you need to make sure about when cleaning a camping stove, it would be that it’s clean. Deep down you probably want that camping stove to be clean, right? Well, there are a few simple steps you can take to make sure your camping stove is clean.

How To Clean A Coleman Liquid Fuel Camping Stove

This process is quite simple, you just need to remove the fuel tank, then wash the case and burners separately from the fuel tank using a hand brush. Allow both to dry upside down before putting them back together, that is all.

Note: You shouldn’t be tempted to unplug the burners in the name of scrubbing to clean. If you do, the rings might be out of alignment, and your stove won’t light properly or at all.

How To Clean Coleman Camping Stove Parts

Unscrew the burners on your propane camping stove to disassemble it. Warm, soapy water should be used to hand-wash the burners, cooktop, and case. Turn all the stove parts upright to dry. Then, when everything is completely dry and there is no more water, reassemble the stove. (For more tips you can check out this video on YouTube)

Note: On your Coleman camping stove, do not use an oven, engine, or tire cleaner. Keep water out of your camping stove to avoid corrosion, which can reduce fuel flow and limit the life of your stove. If you have a liquid fuel stove, either burn the entire tank of fuel or drain it back into the storage can. Allowing fuel to sit in the line can lead to clogging. Before utilizing the pump cup on the tank’s pump plunger again, lightly lubricate it with machine oil. This should be done twice a year to keep the pump running smoothly and properly pushing air into the tank.

How Do You Clean The Grates On A Coleman Stove?

They make grates on a Coleman stove of metal and need to be cleaned regularly to avoid nasty build-up. Because they usually welded the grates onto the stove, you require a special tool to remove, clean, and re-install them. If you don’t have this tool, you can clean the grates using a wire brush.

How To Lubricate Coleman Camping Stove

There’s nothing worse than getting your Coleman stove dirty, then trying to clean it without the proper lubricant. That’s not to say that rubbing a little Vaseline on the pot and the stove will protect them from rusting, but it will keep them from sticking. So, to be safe, make sure the stove has a coating of grease or grease-based lubricant on it to keep it from getting dirty.

How Long Does It Take To Clean A Coleman Camping Stove

We’ve found that most people who have a Coleman camping stove do not clean the stove. That’s because they don’t want to. The fact is, it won’t take you up to 10 to 15 minutes to clean a two-burner Coleman stove, for a single burner it is less than 10 minutes. So if you are camping or RVing, your stove is going to need cleaning at some point. If you are like us, you’ll probably want to repeat cleaning it several times over the course of a year, and so will other people.
